    Math Question

    In a 3 ft by 3ft square how many gallons of water would equal an inch of rain?

    Extra points if you figure out what I’m trying to solve. . Thanks in advance

          What's the depth or height of the 3ft x 3ft square? And what type of gallon are you wanting?


          Edit: You listed a two-D shape. But are asking for a 3-D result.

                  (36x36x1)(.00432900433)=5.61038961168 gallons

                    3x3 is 9 sf at 1" deep.
                    1 cubic ft = 7.48 gallons divided by 12 is .06233 x9 =5.61 gallons
                    And the reason you are asking is because you have a weird shaped bath tub and you don't want your wife using too much hot water when she bathes.
