I saw one deer this evening right at last light moving thru the timber.

    Possible light snow tonight.

The action here in Iowa has been kinda slow until yesterday. The deer here seem to always start to turn on around Halloween. The bucks are starting to cruise in daylight hours. I saw 6 deer yesterday evening. I grunted in a decent 8 point, but not a shooter. I saw a shooter this morning at about 300 yards. I had a young 8 this morning walk under my tree stand. I pulled a card that I had set on a fresh scrape a few days ago, and it had a new buck that I have not seen before. I set a stand near this scrape yesterday. Looking forward to hunting it and this buck

I was in N.Iowa last Thanksgiving. You said something earlier in the thread that I thought to myself last year."These deer don't have to move more than 100 you get all they wanna eat,and drink".My fiance is from Northern Iowa.I absolutely love it up there in the fall.Good luck!

First sit in a new stand set this evening.

Cut corn to my left, cut corn slightly around the corner to my right, pasture up the hill in front, soy bean field to my back. A feeder creek intersects the river about 30 yards to my right.

There are two scrapes under the overhanging Maple at about 23 yards. There is another scrape on the right edge of the corn field at about 40 yards.

Got a picture of the buck I am after at this spot Halloween night in the snow.

First sits are always exciting. Let's see what happens.

Well. I did a couple of rattling sequences and I couldn't believe nothing came in. Right at dark as I put my quiver back on my bow and snapped my arrow into the quiver I heard something behind me. A chunky young 8 was coming up out of the "crick". He walked right under me and went straight to the scrape under the Maple tree. He did not like the dominant buck pee that I had put in the scrape. I took several pictures before he wandered off into the cornfield. I think eventually this spot will produce a big buck.
