            I also dug under a cliff overhang above river and was getting lots if charcoal, shells, flakes and big bones. Can anyone identify? Click image for larger version

                Looks to be bison,the bone was split and the marrow extracted cool finds.

                        Armadillophil, next time you dig that overhang bag up some charcoal. That can be carbon dated to see how old everything is. Now that I think about it, the bone material may be able to be dated also. It's very cool to see the bone. Not something you see every day.

                          If I found it, I would be thinking paleo. Sure hard to tell without a base.It could be a middle archaic knife but the flaking style looks older.

                            I have been leaning on paleo since i found it.. its so well made and the flaking is awesome..but like you said its herd to tell without the base thanks for the input

                                I assume this is a trade pipe, but can the pattern be identified as to how old and its origin? Found it while shooting carp on some shallow flats back in May. Tried to find the other half of the bowl but couldn't. Lots of nice points in the area as well, but doubtful from the same period.
