That heat wave in '80 was brutal! Bad time to own a black F150 with a black interior. Went out after work one day and everything plastic was melted. 8 track tapes, cheap sunglasses, even the steering wheel was mushy.
I did some searching on Huntsville records and 1980 hold the record for consecutive days above 100 because I wasn’t around yet in 1980. It was 27 days and stretched from June 24 - July 20, 1980
I guess 2011 didn’t make the list. The record for 80+ was 1949, 90+ was in 1907, and 100* was 1980.

1980 was my Freshman year of college football. In August we had 3 weeks of 2 or 3 a days and it was 100 or above everyday. We had no lights to practice at dark. There weren't any rules about no 2 consecutive days in full pads like today.
