I was shooting at Fort Worth rifle and pistol club many moons ago. A guy with a Colt Navy black powder revolver was shooting next to me. Unfortunately he had doubled dropped charge in one cylinder and it burst on firing. I took some shrapnel in the face and neck. Nothing life threatening but it stung and bled quite a bit. Was able to pick most pieces our but a couple of slivers festered up and squeezed out later.
Scared the **** out of both of us.

So what’s the takeaway from this? Did he fire the wrong round out of the gun? Crappy to hot reload?

Guy is very lucky!!! I would say that one mistake is shooting ammunition that he had no history on....he admits the ammunition is unknown source and date. I won’t shoot ammo that I don’t know where it came from and/or if it’s older stuff
