I have the same problem. Your cortisol are supposed to rise sharply in the morning, stay fairly high during the day, and begin to decline at approx 8:00. p.m. I had my adrenal hormones tested and it showed my cortisol levels were higher at 8:00 pm and midnight before starting to decline just after 4:00 a.m. Exactly the opposite of what they're supposed to do.
If this is your problem, as I suspect it may be, this is why the medications and supplements you've been taking either 1) don't work for long or 2) don't work at all.
Good luck. I feel for you. If you decide to consider a functional medicine specialist, let me know how I can help.
DISCLAIMER: I am NOT a medical professional, just a person who's live a long time, seen a lot of things, and (according to her husband) thinks she's right about everything.
