I'll account for one. I was helping him move some furniture in 1982. We pulled a couch away from a wall and I noticed a picture frame laying on the floor, it was a Seal Certificate of Training.
I asked him about it and he simply said, "I was wondering where that was."
He preferred not to discuss his service in Vietnam. "I save that for the VA Hospital." I respected that, and always will.

I did 2 floats, granted one was only for a month, on LST-1191, the Racine. Fun times on those flat bottomed suckers

Ask him his MSU number. If he gives you a number then you’ll know he likes to Make Stuff Up. If he says “what’s that?” then you can continue your investigation.

Can someone fill me in on the reasons somebody would “steal valor”? Is it just for attention, or trying to get the 10% discount at the donut shop, or what?

I see this stuff all the time on the book of faces and such, but don’t understand the purpose.

Lack of a moral compass coupled with a selfish desire for notarity or financial gain.
