I hit a doe forward last weekend and the arrow bounced off the shoulder blade, then the ribs exiting out the bottom below the breast bone nicking the stomach. Arrow had blood and stomach juice. I waited an hour and then retrieved the arrow. Saw corn and tons of blood but figured like you I gut shot. Due to the amount of blood I tracked slowly and figured Id back out if blood stopped. Found her around 75 yds. Didn’t realize what happened till I saw her piled up. Luckily the rage cut the belly skin open enough that her stomach was outside of her so wasted only the shoulder with the wound as it got stomach juice inside it. You just never know. My track was daylight though.
