I did the same thing over the summer, it lit up a good area when a raccoon set it off, drew back on it and it was like looking through my peep during the day. I used a green film.

Costco finally has these light back in stock for 29.00

Bought one, headed over to Hobby Lobby...red film was 11 cents per sheet, bought 10 sheets. One sheet will make four covers. Going with four, we'll see how it works. Kinda excited as my hogs have now gone nocturnal on me. Great thread by the way...just gotta figure out how to keep the **** squirrels from chewing up the wires.

I hunted under these this weekend at Bug Scuffle:

They come on dim at dark and brighten up under motion.

Look at my link before you make one. These come in dimly at dark and stay on all night. When they sense movement, they brighten up and stay bright as long as something periodically moves. They're less expensive than building your own. I plan to order several for our place in East Texas.

Wildgame Innovations makes a mountable motion activiated light. Comes with red, green, blue, and clear lenses. Has lots of options with settings and is extremely easy to install on a feeder. Runs on a 6v feeder battery and costs less than $35....
