      Love the 2nd gen trucks.
I had a 5.9 gasser as my first vehicle. I would go back to it over my 08 any day of the week

My father in law has one with under 100k miles. He won’t turn loose of it for anything.

Gauges, especially fuel pressure, would be on my 'to do' list.

Honestly, I would put in some 275hp RV injectors, an Edge EZ, an open air filter, straight pipe it and run it for 500K. Nothing more needed.

Man that's awesome. Must be luck lately.

One of my friends just found one too. I think a 99 or 2000, only 84k miles, 4x4, no cracks in the dash sitting in a barn. Was doing a big land clearing and fence job and asked if they'd throw the truck in as partial payment and they did it!

As the other said, gauges, maybe exhaust/intake to let it breathe. And enjoy driving a better diesel than any of the $80k new rigs on the road now.

                      nice truck man! Congrats.

Look into some gauges, 4" straight pipe it, and maybe do a coolant filter kit. Other than that... resist the urge to tinker with it. I have a 1993 first gen cummins and i haven't touched a thing... truck still runs perfect

Man that's a clean truck. I would definitely get gages. Especially an EGT probe.

                          **** Im jelly.

Makes me miss my 98 1/2. With a manual trans Id prolly open up the exhaust a little, remove that little plate just a head of the turbo I like to hear em whine. Maybe add a EGT and fuel pressure gauge and call it good.

buy a #4 fuel injector line and keep it in the glovebox. they break usually when you are as far away from civilization as possible.

oops my mistake. that's on 03 and up
