I’ll start by saying I’m in the oil field. 2 years ago when oil went to oh a dollar a bbl, I told myself I wasn’t going to live my life in fear of losing my job. I wasn’t in debt except for the house I lived in on a couple acres. The plan I came up with was buy a couple more acres and build a barndo and pay for it as I go. The only way I could do that was to do most of it myself. I’m a master of nothing but was raised to know a little of everything. I sat down with pencil and paper and designed it all myself. Every wall, doorway, plumbing fixture. This was going to be a basic, 2 bedroom, 2 bath house with a certain storage area I wont go into details on since its a public forum. Im a 44 year old divorced guy without kids, so my needs are minimal.
Sold my house July of 2020. I searched and bought 3 acres of solid pine, oak, and youpon. (I work 28 on 28 off, so on days off all I did was work sun up to sun down). Cleared a drive way and home site.
In April 2021 I paid to have the pad, and 40x 70 pole barn built.
Before the concrete was poured my dad, brother in law and I put in the underground plumbing.
Builders came out, poured the slab and closed it in.
That done, it was time to turn. This 2800’ sq feet into 1600’ of living space and 1200’ of shop.
