I hear you. I’m pretty much a less government and let’s enforce the laws on the books kinda guy but this is really a frustrating thing.

I totally get it. We have a place in the hill country and I worry every day. I think the govt. is 100% useless. IF we need a new law it should be that you can drag the jerk out of his/her car and “preach” to ‘em a little. Same for chain draggers.

There is no penalty for poor behavior any more.

NOTE: Good chance I’d get beat up if I tried to “preach” but whatever

I've never understood why at the very least the cig-tossers are cited for littering....yeah I know LEO have bigger things to do/murders to solve etc.

I guess it is just time for a few more "DON'T MESS WITH TEXAS" commericals!

Makes sense to me. All laws work as intended. There is a 55 mile an hour sign 1/4 mile from my house. I have never seen a LEO issuing a speeding ticket at that sign. But quite often I see them writing tickets about 200 yards past that sign. I have often wondered why they don’t put another sign 200 yards down the road because the first one is obviously working.

Around here and heading west to Eldorado, most of the highway fires are caused by 18 wheelers riding on a blown tire or folks pulling a RV / boat, utility trailer with the safety chains dragging

I am sure some are tobacco related to.

In fire school, we learned that fewer than 1% of wildland fires were caused by cigarettes flicked out the window. I thought that sounded like a low percentage, but who knows?
