Don’t leave any of your hunting equipment in your truck unattended. Especially fords, the lock cylinder is in a plastic housing and thieves break it with a flat head screwdriver freeing the cylinder to turn and unlock your door.
They look for stickers on the back glass ie Browning, archery “Texas Bowhunter” etc.
A guy stole a truck from a buddy and when the cops caught up with him he told them “I know they’re hunters and figured there would be guns in the truck”
I don’t stop anywhere to get out and leave my gear behind.
Sorry that happened to you. Put a hose clamp around the tailgate head on the new one. Install it with the screw facing down when the tailgate is lowered and bend the clamp over the screw head. It slows them down and maybe move onto an easier target.
