In for pics! Headed to Van Zandt county this afternoon for my 2nd sit of the season and the last weekend for doe there as well. Hoping to fill the freezer
The big boys have to survive for about 10 more days before their survival rate sky rockets. From what I've seen in the past, hunting season ends for about 90% of people after the conclusion of Thanksgiving weekend. Personally I'm going to make sure my pens have enough corn in them to be able to last for the next 14+ days.
My thinking is that I'm going to let them get comfortable in their little "safe haven" & ideally they'll get into a routine of frequenting the "buffet" of corn. Then, when they're least expecting it, I'll slip in there and hopefully be fortunate enough to arrow a big mature ETX buck.
In person, I saw 3 deer total last season on this piece of property. This year, I've seen a deer nearly every hunt and have logged more hours in the stand over the last 7 weeks than I care to admit. Good luck to everyone this weekend & Happy Thanksgiving! Reminder, hug your loved ones extra tight any/every time you see them.

Reason: typo
Sorry for the delay, fellas. It’s warm so I wanted to get him cleaned up and on ice.
I love this pic because it shows all the freaking mass he has, which was just incredible. He went 180 lbs. on the hoof, and for anyone curious he was 13 1/4” inside.
Yesterday was my birthday so this was truly icing on the cake.
