My first elk hunt coming up.

A buddy and myself will be hunting in 751 for Muleys, heading up early Wednesday. Never hunted up there and will be in a tent at 10K feet! Hope everyone has a successful and safe trip!

we will be in 751 as well, by Vallecito Reservoir. Try to scare the elk my way!

No luck! Saw fresh signs but no elk. Should have got a mule deer tag because we saw shooters less than an hour into our first day. Had one walk within 30 feet of me while posted up by a water hole lol

Elk hunted Colorado during the 3rd gun season near Craig. I hope your in good shape and have good sleeping arrangements with a good heater!!!! Drink all the water you can stand and caffeine helps. Altitude sickness is a real deal. Migraine headache and fast pulse. Hiking those mountains is no joke. Expect a lot of snow!!! Good luck

Hmmm that’s strange. When we purchased our elk tags at the office they offered for us to buy mule deer tags for like 300$ I believe. Maybe I was mistaken.

I'm going as well next year for my first time!!! Unit 77 between Pagosa Springs and Bayfield. Spoke with the guide and was told mule deer is by draw.

Colorado is 'draw only' but they have leftover and turn backs.

There could have been licenses turned back in your area- they offer those for sale online and at the CPW offices.
