Look at the staining from his tarsal glands. He's just run down from the rut. That bucks at least 5.5.

This is what I think as well. I always say if in doubt give the deer another year. OP, your plan is paying off so far. Nice jump from last year to this year. Hopefully you see another similar jump next year.

You must have light hunting pressure around you...most people would take him this season. Hope he makes it!

Awesome pass. Could indicator of what age will do to a bucks growth. Hope you're able to get a true wall hanger next year! That throat patch is a dead give away when you see him!

Looks 5.5 and low 140s to me this year.

If you even had thoughts of passing it’s probably good you did. Normally those are the deer you regret shooting when they are on the ground.
