We're planning on it. Either the 5-11th or the 19-25th depending on the NM draw. We will be scouting a couple of units this summer. First ever elk hunt early archery in 81 in 2019. Called in and missed a raghorn bull. Only elk we saw the whole trip. Lot of bear, LOTS of hunters, even deep. Son was born in September last year, so didn't go. Found good bulls local though.

We will head north on the 5th and head back down on the 13th. Have it narrowed down to 5/6 units currently but will cut that down to probably 3 by June/July

I'm genuinely curious what takes these states so long to process results

Wyoming doesn't draw until our quotas are set and approved by the commission.
The outfitters association pushed for and got the early application period even though our draw is in summer.
Commission will approve the quotas here in about a week or so.

We’ve had our first griz fatality of the year. Man camping near West Yellowstone, attacked Thursday and died Saturday. When GWs, bear specialists went in on Friday it attacked the 7 men- who opened fire and dropped it 20 yards away. I understand they carry 12 gauge slug guns and AR 10s in .308.

Pray for the poor guy.

I drew my Bull tag for Montana. I was shocked as I just put in last minute and had zero expectations of drawing it since I just drew on 2 years ago. Good luck to everyone else this fall.

Wow... i'm 0/6 years in NM. But then again, I'm the same guy who did not get drawn for a 100 frickin % draw odds unit in colorado smh.

I drew my first choice on my first time to apply.

Second rifle Elk unit 36, Ruidoso.

Not sure what to say or think at this point. Applied late on a whim and ended up solo as my hunting partner had application issues. He will really be bummed when he hears this.

That’s pretty lucky man. Should be a fun hunt with an good opportunity to get a big bull.

I drew my late archery deer tag again this year in a new unit. Pretty pumped to dive in and learn a new piece of country. No elk tag for me in NM but I did draw a limited entry tag in Montana along with a nov deer tag.
