I met Mike Cooper (Stickbowcoop) last year when I bought his truck. He immediately reminded me of my first best friend. I did not know him well or for long, but I found him to be a genuinely good man who had been dealing with some major adversity.
He was an electrical engineer at American Airlines before suffering a major back injury. He went through multiple failed surgeries, but was focused on recovering and hopeful for better times. I saw him with his wife Sami and could tell that they were still very much in love with each other.
Sometime in 2018 Mike was diagnosed with melanoma and by December it had progressed to stage 4. It must have been really bad. He last posted here in late January and I just found his obituary. He passed away on March 2.
I am glad I had the chance to meet Mike. Even though I’m sad he left his wife and family way too soon, I also know he has moved on to an eternal life in peace.
