Hopefully my great grandkids will like it.
This is what I bought as well, but in 45-110. Was going to buy another as I have two sons. But youngest just ain’t into anything gun wise. Only archery, and i am sure he would just sell it. May buy a beretta over under to hand down to my new grandson.

M70 Super Grade is a pretty classy piece of timeless hardware.

Wood stocked 6.5 CM or .270.
          Leupold scope.
And hope your family is not like mine where we have to buy lefties and righties.

Mine would probably be a Winchester 70 Featherweight or Ruger 77 in 6.5x55 swede.

If I was gonna get another .270 to hand down to my kids I would get a Winchester Model 70 Supergrade. Top it with a top of the line Leupold, Swarovski or Zeiss and Conetrol mounts.

Heck, I may just get one for myself! LOL!

Either a Rem 700 or Browning in either .30-06 or .270.

Those makes and calibers are classics and I don’t see them going away anytime soon. So parts and ammo should always be easily available.

                      Winchester model 94 in 30-30.

Every kid in my family has hunted with it since the early 1900's

I have my grandfather’s model 94 in 30-30. Shot my first deer with it with my son on the hunt. He said that day in his childhood changed his life.

I left it in my will to my grandson, with the shoulder mount of the 3x3 blacktail. My younger brother has a whitetail european mount my grandfather shot, he left it in his will to my grandson.

My son assures me if I’m not there when my grandson starts hunting ( I hope to be), he will take his first deer with ‘Grsndpa’s gun’.

I’d suggest something more ‘classic’ as a legacy rifle.
