It would be nice to see Americans buying this rather than the Chinese.

Because they started and continued to make a faulty product and it caught up with them. Worst trigger ever put in a gun. Class action lawsuits against Remington has pretty much emptied the cash register.
The settlement covers an estimated 7.5 million guns dating back to 1948. In addition to the Model 700 rifle, the agreement covers Remington bolt-action rifle models Seven, Sportsman 78, 673, 710, 715, 770, 600, 660, 721, 722, 725, and the XP-100 bolt action pistol. Plaintiffs' attorneys note that the settlement only covers economic losses from ownership of the allegedly defective guns. Other claims alleging personal injury or wrongful death can still go forward. No info on how much it will cost but surely in the billions.

Supreme court allowed the Sandy Hook lawsuit to continue. Easiest way for them to get out of it is to file bankruptcy and sell. As mentioned above they have multiple liability lawsuits as well.

I have no idea why the Navajo would want the company.

For clarification STATE Supreme Court, not federal.

No sir, Remington tried a last ditch effort with the US Supreme Court after the Connecticut Supreme Court ruled against them.

The suit was allowed to continue because the aren’t blaming the guns themselves as is generally protected by federal law. They are suing Remington under Connecticut laws for unfair trade practices for marketing a military firearm to civilians.

Basically they are trying a backdoor way to get around the federal law (often called a loophole) and so far it is working.

That is correct the gun is not at fault, marketing is. It will only be a matter of time before this is applied to S&W and Ruger through other liberal states. I keep track of the gun industry fairly well, there are gonna be more problems on the horizon.
