Congrats. Has a belly and brisket, back is still straight. I say 5-6 max. Teeth aging isn't an exact science, deerage.com will work their magic for a few bucks!
Thanks again everyone! Still can't believe how much fun that was. I have enjoyed hunting with a bow more than hunting with a rifle and I think I plan to stick to the bow only this year.
There was a wildlife biologist who works on the WMA. He aged him by teeth at 6.5. They take measurements and age every deer taken off the property. He actually said that it could have been 7.5. Antler development has not been good according to the biologist.
My goal was to shoot a mature buck. I just thought it looked really young in the picture we took after we found him. I guess you can't always go by a picture.
Very nice buck for your first or your 50th bow critter. Congratulations on putting in all the effort for such a great reward. I'll bet your heart was pounding when it got to be go time.
