In your shoes now. Been researching brands and calibers for months. The two guns I was looking at closest was the tikka t3x and bergara b14. I’ve settled on the 7-08 and the tikka t3x stainless. Check them out. Lots of good options out there.

The 557 has a 24" barrel, but I think there is a CZ model that has a 20" barrel in that caliber as well.
I am a huge 30-06 fan and over the last 15 years I have changed. For the hill country to Colorado this is a great caliber. The ballistic coefficient is great.
      This is Europe's 30-06...........

Like a lot of folks have already said 7-08 or a 6mm

I would buy a 6.5 prc, that said they didn’t offer the rifle I wanted in it so I settled for a 6.5 manbun.

Near and dear to my heart! But for ammo you pretty much have to handload.

7-08 would be my next vote

I have had zero luck with the Hornady superformance crap so that’s out. That leaves the ammo loaded with Berger 115s and remington that I know of, any more I’m missing? Have not seen federal in many years and the good Hornady ammo they stopped producing for the superformance dog sh**.
