We are in North Central Louisiana with red dirt and iron ore heavy in some areas. When we started 20+ years ago we followed the 100 lbs per acre recommended and got poor results. Then.we started doing soil test and loaded up.witb tons of lime and fertilizer and got it right. Still while plots grew better they were thin. Move on a few years we double to 200 and cameras .became the thing. What we saw then was once we planted our seed bed became a food source for anything that liked eating seeds. That is how we ended up with our recipe.

I poisoned grass & weeds earlier and we planted this week.
No army worm issues and hog proof fences.
      Excited to see results.

        100 lbs Forage Oats
        100 lbs Forage Winter Wheat
        50 lbs Cereal Rye
        50 lbs Austrian Winter Peas
That seems very high per acre. No way I would put down over 200 lbs per acre on a good seed bed
