Cut metal at an angle and then cover with ridge cap. I'll show better details when I get to that part.

Curious as to the reason for having the gap between the main roof and porch and why not just do a normal transition trim.

As I have stated a few post back it wasn't my idea! It's not how I would have don't it but my FIL assisted with that portion and we actually argued over it. I did mine with a smooth transition. He imagined it all wrong. I have an idea and will describe it in better detail when I get to that point.

Basically taking 4" inside corner and overlapping. The overhang of roof metal will drop maybe 2" on top of porch.

Again not my idea but it is what it is. I still think it will turn out looking good.
