Organ meats, also known as offal, are the commonly unused cuts of meats, such as tails and feet. Learn about the benefits and risks of eating organ meats.

Deer liver is a great treat for the dogs. I never toss it out.

This, and be sure to cut all the silver skin off that surrounds it or it'll be super tough. I never freeze it, always fresh. It really is good. My picky kids even like it.

If I'm hungry enough to feel like eating deer liver, I'd shoot another doe first.

I like heart. Haven’t tried liver.

Definitely try them both, zero reason not to as long as they're fresh (which is apparently longer than I'd previously though). I used to always save them both and cube it all up and fry it for adding to the dogs' food over a few days to boost the nutrition, but not anymore now they're all mine.

Not a liver eater and there is never enough heart left to cook when I shoot my deer.

                        Just say’s.

I think I skip the gut meat. Only gut meat I eat are chicken gizzards

Heart is fantastic. We just slice thin and fry it same as backstrap. Liver gets left in the pasture though. Yotes gotta eat

In Michigan, they pickle the deer hear with onions and peppers. I never ate it. I tried to grill a heart but the texture was different. Watch Meateater
