We launched out of Heller Bar which is 30 miles, end of the road, upriver from Asotin Washington. We then jet boated probably another 30 miles into the Hells Canyon National Rec area. The guide stopped along the way and left a permit in a box. There were quite a few rafters coming out of the Salmon. If googling, look around Salmon and Imnaha River confluences with the Snake. Awesome but rugged country.
