Got some family members who have done a fair bit of trapping. As I understand it, a heart shot/lung shot skunk is much less likely to spray. That .17 with frangibles sounds like the ticket to me.

I use it, and it's good stuff. Easier to strip off the shft later when the feathers get ratty. Just put a dab of super glue on each end to keep it from lifting before you're ready.
