I've had luck with mock scrapes and the slow release "wildlife research center" active scrape lure. If not for anything else, it is great for getting pics of your local and traveling bucks.

Been thinking of doing the same. Wrist release strap stretches out, slides forward more if sweaty. Was thinking a hand release would also allow you to take some of the tension off shoulder and back.
