Mule Pro Mods

Going to buy a FX this week. I was curious what mods y’all have done and which ones you liked or didn’t like after using them awhile. I know I want a roof , preferably metal and probably a half windshield, and front receiver hitch. Not sure about a lift or bigger tires/wheels. Probably will do that too though. Which tires do y’all recommend for cactus? Thanks in advance.

Good mods on this thread. I would look into the Essex Kevlar belted tires price point is high but great for brush.

Multi seal for tires, gun racks (bought the big sky ones), roof for sure and led lights. Also put a mirror for neighborhood driving.

Going to use this for the front receiver. About $95 for both pieces. Has anyone else tried this?

It will be too low to use for a feeder unless your feeder mount angles up.

Funny you should ask. Putting my lift and 28” tires on after church today. I’ll repost

Can’t speak for the receiver part, but I have their winch mount. Mount is solid, but one of the nuts stripped out while I was installing it. They are the kind that are permanently mounted, so I’m rolling with three nuts[emoji16]

I don’t have a Mule Pro, but I’ve got this Tough Country bumper on my Defender. I love it, and have used the front receiver on it quite a bit for feeder and rack space. Here’s a pic from Tough Country’s Instagram page.Attachment 956058

How do you like the Defender?

TX03RUBI 05-06-2019 06:30 AM

Love it. A very quiet smooth riding machine, that’s very well thought out. I added some HD springs and 30” Maxxis Libertys to it, and love how it handles. Plenty of power when needed too.

dc1986 05-06-2019 12:59 PM

Nobody has a Mule Pro on this site?

savin yours 05-06-2019 01:13 PM

I also have the full glass windshield by Kawasaki, superwinch, led pods on the rear, Bazooka party bar, and some small red LED’s under the dash for courtesy lights, led bulbs in halogen headlamps, NOCO charging port...... and MERICA!! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...8ef2d9c711.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...94e3252da9.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...6962702882.jpg

Sorry do not have a picture. It mounts using the existing bolts that connect your roof frame to the lower frame. Makes a really solid rest. Also a good place to mount a gun rack.

Ordered the Highlifter lift, 28” Roctane Kevlar tires, 14” STI HD6 wheels, brush guard, 1/2 windshield, and black spline lug nuts yesterday. Still need a roof.

You going to install spacers?

My mule pro looked like a rail truck after installing the highlighter lift kit.

cantexduck 05-07-2019 06:15 AM

Triple c makes a good roof.

Will you measure the OAL width once you install them? I am already pretty close to the sides on my trailer. I hate to put the lift and spacers and then not be able to fit!

I like my fortress roof. The big selling point to me was ability to fold it out of the way and dump the bed of the FXT. That shouldn't make a difference to you though if you just have the PRO.

1.5” brings it back to a stock stance. I have them on mine.

See my install here. I didn’t measure it, just eyeballed it

Chance Love 05-07-2019 05:56 PM

DO you have the FXT? I've got a Fortress roof for one I want to sell.

mooney_ag 05-07-2019 10:13 PM

Are you changing roofs?

Palmetto 05-08-2019 08:13 AM

Next time I clean mine out I will have to take some pics.

I have an aluminum roof on my FXT. A shop in El Campo builds them. I paid around $600 (not coated). They are angled out on 3 sides, with a drip rail all the way around. I wouldn't have a roof without a drip rail. It channels the water to the corners, and keeps the water off of you. Really nice. It is also strong enough to stand on. I can send anyone the info if interested.

I have a Koplin removeable, tilt out windshield. I love it because it is easy to remove by yourself, and stores easily. I run it all winter, and when it warms up I take it off. I like the wide open view, and the wind in my face. If it goes to raining, I can put it on in 2 minutes. Fits my needs perfectly.
https://www.kolpin.com/kawasaki-mule...ing-windshield

I keep my bed folded in, and use a 1x6 in the bed slots to keep items like a machete, loppers, chains, & misc tools from sliding around too much. I have about a 12" wide section of a stall matt in that area too that helps to keep that stuff sliding & banging.

I have a custom built tool box bolted in to the bed too, and that is my favorite addition. I have all the hand tools that I ever need, all the time. Super handy.

I have no need for a lift or big mud tires. I run this thing almost every day on a working cattle ranch, and haven't gotten myself in a bind yet with stock tires. It does everything I need to do, as is. I like the factory style tires so far, as I travel allot of gravel road and they have held up very well for the last 2 years.

I have the Kawasaki heavy duty spring kit, but I haven't installed it yet. The factory rear springs are my only complaint on this rig. A little load will squat it pretty easily. I am hoping that those remedy that some.

I also built a handy front rack. The factory rack has some predrilled holes that I used to mount mine. I built mine just big enough to handle a small ice chest, as I didn't want to tempt myself to overload it!

I will try to post some pics soon....

About to install the lift now and waiting on everything else to show up.

Sticks&Strings 05-08-2019 03:50 PM

My dads. I have a defender and it is the superior machine for sure so far, but the mule with a lift and new tires is now a totally different machine. We left the tires at stock offset after the lift, which are now narrower just to help not sling mud all over us. It rides way better now and you dont hardly need 4x4. Before it would get stuck on wet grass.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...14a8a9f8ec.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...11ae331309.jpg

Or you can stick a tiny piece of electrical tape over the flashing seatbelt light

Speed is limited without the seatbelt plugged in or the bypass. Bypass works great!

Texas660 05-12-2019 09:54 AM

Replace the stock air filter with a UNI foam filter, uses the same one as a Tryex. Its a bigger filter and doesnt get clogged up as fast, and its reusable. Theres a group on the book of faces that has alot of good info.

Man, that looks great! I have a Mule Pro FXR and it could use a lift, and a metal roof.

Thanks for the tip on the seat belt bypass. That's the only thing I don't care for on my mule.
