whats the average lease go for out in that area? One with great road access and creek drainages with trees?

bps3040 07-04-2018 10:01 AM

Went out last weekend. Changed out 3 feeders and added new blind. We lucked out. Friday and most of Saturday, it was cloudy and drizzling. It was nice to work in. Saturday around 3:00 it heated up but we were finished with workhttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...f68721e636.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...ba5d8b2f19.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...4fdf40f43a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...0799300353.jpg

I’m anxious to go, but I had hip surgery last week and now it looks like it will be about another month or two before I can get out.

TXBRASS 08-20-2018 01:52 PM

Heading out Wednesday about dark. That way we can do most of the work in the dark and early morning hours. Only a month later than originally planned, but such is life. Anxious to get back out there and see how things look.

They have some rain out there. Lots of my deer pics showed the rain, wet weather. Looks like the deer were loving it. Had these at the feeder yesterday morning.

SabreKiller 08-20-2018 04:47 PM

I'm anxious to get out there myself. My hip replacement has held me back for two months but planning on making a run Sept 14-16. I haven't checked cameras since April so I'm pretty sure the cards will be full.

TXBRASS 08-23-2018 01:04 PM

Got to the lease at 3am this morning and began filling feeders by headlamp and ATV headlights. First time weíve done that, but 75-80 degrees was much better than triple digits. Got done and was out the gate headed back before 9am. I havenít seen it that green and lush before. Grass everywhere and things blooming. Should be a great season. Excited to get there and and hunt this December.

Good to hear that it has greened up out there finally. I was there back in April and the vegetation looked like August. I hope to get out there in a couple weeks. I'm pretty sure my cameras SD cards are full.

Texas Kidd 08-23-2018 03:11 PM

I'll be out there on Sept. 2nd and 3rd. Going to fill feeders and set up for bow.

Texas Kidd 08-28-2018 10:59 AM

Hey guys, I'll be heading out west this weekend to fill feeders and set up stands. Any of y'all been out there lately? Are "tourists" at full swing right now or not?

I was out there this last week. At 1030am you start to bake. Saw a lil buck on the way in. Lots of purple out there right now.

TXBRASS 09-17-2018 12:47 PM

Just saw some pictures posted last night on the Terrell County FB page and MAN IT IS GREEN out there now!

Over 4" of rain this month alone... That should help finish off the antler growth....

SabreKiller 09-17-2018 12:55 PM

I saw the same post. I' glad its greened up out there. I was headed that way, but changed my mind for the weather.

I'm looking at the calendar now to see when I can make it. I need to check cameras, kill some schitt, and work on some water troughs that aren't working. The old trigger finger is awfully itchy too for some pigs.

When I built that feeder, I wasn't sure the angles on the legs, but knew I needed feet to support the weight and keep the pipes from sinking. I figured a sideways piece of pipe would distribute the weight and would eliminate the need for me to get the angle right. Put a piece of rubber under it and hammered a piece of rebar thru it, and it's worked perfectly.

Here is feeder build:

Game camera pictures I got from my Covert wireless cameras Saturday showed it was raining out there.

TXBRASS 09-24-2018 03:56 PM

Anyone been out lately? Reports saying it's super-green....

SabreKiller 09-24-2018 04:21 PM

I've heard its green out there, but haven't been able to lay eyes on the ranch since April. My GF and I are supposed to go out there this weekend, but that may not happen due to the death of a friend's daughter. If not this weekend, then next weekend for sure. I'm itching to let my new rifle bark and knock down some sheep or pigs.

Terrell County Hunting 2018-2019

My buddy went out two weeks ago. Very green. Weíre going out opening weekend, but not really expecting much. Hoping for some doe. We have a water hole we normally shoot them at, but water is not a needed commodity this year, lol.

Was anyone out this past weekend?

SabreKiller 10-01-2018 06:13 PM

Nope, but headed out Friday for a long weekend and coming back Monday. The GF and I will visit the Pumpville Baptist Church for some good old Southern Baptist preaching and vittles on Sunday and then head back to the lease. My trigger finger is so itchy right now I'm pretty sure something is going to die.

Headed out Thursday night, have a lot of bucks on the list. I’ll post some pictures in minute.

SabreKiller 10-04-2018 11:15 AM

Anyone have any idea what the skeeter situation is like out there right now? I'm taking my thermacell and some repellent, but if they've had much rain out there I'll need a flamethrower to kill them all.

Just got back. We needed our thermacell. Skeeters were bad.

Surprising, deer were running around everywhere and coming to corn. My buddy's shot a doe each. One looked like a Hybrid. She was a big doe. She had a tan hide(our whitetail are all tan colored...right now)), instead of gray. Smallish ears, but mulie tail.

Anyone see any hybrids?

bps3040 10-05-2018 05:42 PM

Nice Bps. They are not coming to corn, feeder activity has dropped off a lot since all the rain. Saw a couple good bucks while driving mid day. Our place is mostly whitetail with a few Mulies. 11k acres northeast Terrell.

Ckrue06 10-09-2018 05:57 PM

Hey Terrell_county, do you mind saying who owns the ranch? Have an uncle who owns about 11k acres out there. It’s not the Hagelstein ranch is it? Best of luck hunting!

TXBRASS 10-09-2018 06:19 PM

My FamLogs said our place got 2.25" of rain last night....

mattfox 10-09-2018 07:33 PM

Hagelstein, you are my neighbor. We hunt the Holmes

I figured I might find someone on here who was hunting around the Hagelstein ranch! How close is the Holmes? I know the Brown and Walker ranches our there but never heard of the Holmes. Iím sure Ele (the owner and operator) knows exactly where you are. Best of luck out there! Iíll be out that way to shoot a doe or two at some point this season. Are you able to shoot mule deer on your lease? Also been seeing some STUD bull elk running around out there.

Ckrue06 10-09-2018 08:51 PM

Those are some really nice bucks, best of luck this season!

bps3040 10-09-2018 09:00 PM

Nice bucks!
