Vanilla extract?

I'm just curious see lot of post about it on here. How does it work, can you get it from wal mart and just spray it all over the ground and stuff where the corn Falls or do you actually have to have a certain amount and mix in with the corn for it to work in just real curious and I want to do it. Any info will help my it a bunch. I'm clueless when it comes to it thanks!

I was always curious of this myself. Two weeks ago I happened upon a thread about it, the same day I saw Pistol's thread about the apple. Curiosity got me and when I went to town for feed on Saturday I swung by the grocery store and got a couple apples and a couple of small bottles of vanilla, what could it hurt. Now I have only seen one deer actually enter my ffed pen all year and that was a buck opening morning that my son drilled, anyway, Saturday before the evening hunt I threw my normal hand corn and dumped a pile of corn inside the feed pen and poured the vanilla over the top of it. Nothing that evening but they ate every bit of it that night, along with the apples I had sliced and threw in the pen. It all happened over night so I am NOT an eyewitness, but it sure was gone the next morning. I will try it again

systemnt......you need a bigger picture. I can't quite see that one.....

Tex1986 10-28-2015 03:54 PM

I'm curious about the vanilla as well.

STONE KILLER 10-28-2015 03:56 PM

rtp 10-28-2015 03:57 PM

Truth is, you have to be careful with vanilla! They will flat run your azz over to get to it according to some, but the rest call it snake oil and for the moment you are the conduit between the two...lucky you! Me, I don't know, but the fireworks are great! Waiting for my favorite picture!

Just your's.

TxDispatcher 10-28-2015 04:31 PM

I had a whole other comment typed up, but I'll just say this. I've seen folks say to mix it anywhere from 75/25 water/vanilla, to 50/50. Try it and see what works for you/if it works for you. Someone at one time invented everything that we have today. No idea just popped up in everyone's mind simultaneously. And try to ignore the smart alec remarks ;)b

Tony Pic 10-28-2015 04:56 PM

I think Buck Bomb makes it...Its called Nose Jammer. It is vanilla scent. I sprayed it in the store the other day. Vanilla. I didn't buy it. Don't need it. But if you must...take a look at Nose Jammer by buck bomb.

Lmao. My avatar shows I apparently have the same problem.

J&M Hamilton10 10-28-2015 05:26 PM

Plain corn always worked for me but doing a vannilla mix has produced more deer at my corn pile and faster than plain corn.

I have a 55 gal barrel full of corn and I mix it up as I fill it. My dad lives where I hunt so he takes a little at a time and puts it out for me.

gusman 10-28-2015 05:31 PM

I like the way it smells...

bigjohntex 10-28-2015 06:06 PM

I fill a Five gallon bucket with corn. Using a two cup measuring cup I add 1/4 cup vanilla then fill the rest with water up to the two cup line. I then pour it over the corn in the bucket, put the lid on and roll it around some. We take a one gallon zip lock full of the vanilla corn out each time I hunt and place in my shooting lane. Me.... I'm a believer. .... I've seen it work with my own eyes. Try it for yourself. If you see it work you can come to your own conclusion.

Ruark 10-28-2015 07:43 PM

I sprinkle a few drops around the feeder when I'm starting it up in August. A few on the ground, the feeder legs, nearby cedars, etc. every couple of days. When they start hitting it regularly I stop.

97JeepGuy 10-28-2015 07:47 PM

Just don't spray yourself down in it.. I had a spike Come in head up trotting and licking his lips all the way underneath my stand.

MASTERS 10-28-2015 08:32 PM

If it will kill the stink on a stripper it's gotta be good stuff!!!!!:):):)

mjhaverkamp 10-28-2015 08:52 PM

I know a guy that swears by it, to my knowledge he has killed 4 deer over 170, he pours it all over his truck and hunts from it, craziest thing I ever seen.

texasforever 10-31-2015 03:32 PM

All I use now. Had a buck 7 yards from me last night down wind for about an hour and he never knew I was there

sotol 10-31-2015 04:15 PM

I like the vanilla wafer idea. My peanut butter will go good woth them.

shwacker1911 10-31-2015 04:26 PM

Tryed it before and it came out questionable the coons and hogs really liked it though

Ruark 10-31-2015 08:56 PM

Yeah, just sprinkle some in the back of your truck, and the deer will jump in and commit suicide.....

Yep, enough poetry for a couple of seasons already. I mean, love hit me hard a couple of times, but never hard enough to write poetry.

Let's get back to pea gravel, vanilla, and black panthers.

Medina Springs 10-31-2015 09:39 PM

This time of year I switch to the pumpkin spice flavors they seem to really like it.The vanilla works for me in late September - October, Pumpkin spice in November then in December during the rut oh boy......are you ready for this I haven't told anyone my secret so here it is egg nog with a dash of nutmeg. You put that out and it's on.

clayree 01-11-2017 02:34 PM

Some of thee threads do make me laugh.............................

O. Virginianus 01-11-2017 04:23 PM

Anyone remember Vanilla-Killa. It was a marketed vanilla scent for hunters. The vanilla extract thing has been around for decades.

Richard 01-11-2017 07:09 PM

I use vanilla extract 50/50 with water. Spray around my corn and use it for cover scent in my blind. This stuff works so good I feel like I'm cheating.
