Most are 2Ē or 3Ē

GarGuy 08-08-2020 07:47 PM

Top row third from left is either a Bell or castrovolle. The complete on left bottom is a pedernales. The fine point to the right of it is probably an eared Marshall. Last point is a frio.

The little blade with tip missing in top row is interesting but can't I'd with out having it in hand. The rest are broken beyond id. Over all a very nice archaic camp.

So the big rock that you have the points on. Is that anything or just a rock? The reason I ask is that I found one shaped exactly like that. Nice points you have there.

Thanks for the info!! I always thought it was a point, but that makes perfect sense.

GarGuy 08-14-2020 09:06 PM

Man that is a fine day of digging. Whether that is a castroville or bell... Its fine. That Coryell is fine too. I think I see another worn paleo in the pics plus what might be a worn out and damaged Clovis. Definately an old element to that camp

Daddy D 08-14-2020 11:09 PM

GarGuy: we was calling that a Folsom? You lean Clovis?

Not Folsom. May be Clovis. Post good.close pics of both sides please. Also please show edge profile and thickness.

GarGuy 08-15-2020 03:27 PM

Might post up that long white paleo while you are at it.

Me and the son went down to our fossil hunting stomping grounds today. Think we may have found a mammoth or bison fossiled bone with arrowhead marks
?

90% of what you will find along the Rio Grande will be Matamoros, Tortugas, Catan, & Desmuke. The birdies will be Perdiz, Toyah, and Scallorn.

Google those and you should find some writeups about them.

Beautiful banded chert. Great find! I'll bet the guy that made that was pretty proud of it.

I'm curious what points these are. I found them in dimmit county last week and haven't found one like this before. At first I thought the bigger one was broken until I picked it up. Its got a slight slope upwards on the tip and a thinner base when viewed from the side. The smaller point seems to have been reworked and not broken. Thanks

Any one know of a good place to hunt arrowheads around the Oak Point denton tx area?

Looking for information on these arrowheads I've found. I'm most interested in the first one on the left. I believe the third one is a Pedernales. They were all found on the same property and I think it's very interesting that so many different cultures/time periods are represented

Couple more pictures. These others were found close by.

GarGuy 06-01-2021 10:51 AM

Reelthreat may be right. Sure looks like a midland. Lack of symmetry is odd on midland but those flat flakes sure look good. Crazy patina on it. That thing was glossy dark chert when made. Nothing like finding a 12,000 year old artifact.

red-fin 06-01-2021 11:15 AM

Wow that's really cool. What do yall think about the other ones? Thanks for the information.
