My Vetern's Day Present

1 Attachment(s)
Hadn't been hunting in 6 years and finally got to punch another tag last night. First blood with the new Carbon Express Bloodshed and she's shooting sweet! Dropped her at 30 yards with a BEE/Slick Trick Mag 100 combo. First time my 4 years old's seen a deer down and he thought it was 'super cool'. Made for a nice Veteran's Day present for me too. USAF Ammo, IYAAYAS!
And as someone pointed out, no she's not gutted yet and yes I should have done it 'in the field' but I got her about 100 yards off the back of my property so it was easier to pull her to the shop where I had some better light. Smh...facebook warriors. lol

congrats, and thank you for your service.

Congrats, and BTW, I haven't gutted a deer in 25 years. No reason to unless you hunting is hot temperatures and can't get them in the cooler in a reasonable amount of time.

x3 After learning to quarter a deer without messing with the guts years ago, I no longer mess with them.

Congrats

Congratulations and happy Veterans Day to you and all the veterans!!

Thanks guys. My deer processor isn't but 2 miles down the road. Might just take it straight to him next time. I was not happy with my skills. Couldn't find my knife from 6 years ago either so that didn't help either I'm sure.

Solid work and thank you

Lawhunter 11-12-2018 01:22 PM

Congrats

Ignore the idiots on Facebook, I'm convinced that half of those folks don't know the difference between their butt and a hole in the ground. They repeat rhetoric that they've heard and aren't capable of a single original thought.

And I'm with a few other guys who have already commented. I would never gut an animal if the lease rules didn't dictate that we have a field dressed weight in the log book ;)b

lovemylegacy 11-12-2018 05:29 PM

Unless, I have a long way to drag, Im not gutting them either.

rjtkdplus 11-12-2018 05:50 PM

Congrats! I’m in the “ no gutting “ club as well.

Nice. Expert behind every keyboard these days :-)
Steady On,

Congrats and as I always try to acknowledge, THANKS FOR YOUR SERVICE!

Until last year I used to gut, skin every deer the son's and I shot. But, the processor in Bronte will do it for $20 and I'll never go the other route again! It's a short drive after the hunt and they do a "bang up" job...PUN intended!

just curious but why don't you guys gut them? I fall into the category of 'it's always been done that way so that's why I do it' mantra. And I don't have a good reason for it. Can't use heat because I grew up in Iowa and hunted gun season which there was usually snow on the ground.

There is nothing in there unless you are taking the heart. Itís easy to get the tenderloins out with gutting them....unless you are one of those weirdos that hang them upside down...by the neck. [emoji12]
