Is Tyler open?

I'm taking my wife to Tyler in a couple of weeks. I was looking on the google for places to eat. On google maps, every restaurant in town says take out or delivery. I mean all of them. Is the map not updated or is it correct?

txhunter90 06-11-2021 07:39 AM

Everything is open.

bownut 06-11-2021 07:49 AM

It’s all open

MadHatter 06-11-2021 07:52 AM

I'm not sure they ever shut down.
Not that I noticed anyway.

Sharecropper 06-11-2021 07:52 AM

Make another thread titled "good places in Tyler to eat" . .

Goldeneagle 06-11-2021 07:53 AM

I was just curious. None of the places say dine in.

I probably will when it gets a little closer to time to go.

Maps are out of date. Come on. A lot of servers and kitchen personnel are still wearing masks but they're not required.

Smart 06-11-2021 08:42 AM

Take her somewhere nice... https://www.restaurantji.com/tx/tyle...ohn-silvers-2/

Good seafood and best ribs in East Texas.

What is the Mexican Food restaurant that has been soo popular in Tyler, I'm thinking Marisco or something like that.

MUZZYSLINGR 06-11-2021 08:45 AM

Aspen Creek out on the loop is pretty good.

Have to give Clear Springs a thumbs up too.

Goldeneagle 06-11-2021 08:55 AM

Here are the meals we will need. Keep up the ideas (except for Smart). We're staying at a B&B so breakfast is taken care of.
We check in at 3:00 Monday and will come back home Wednesday.

Monday - Dinner
Tuesday - Lunch and dinner

Or maybe thinking of Mariscos Don Juan's? One location on the square downtown and one on East Erwin....not far from each other. More authentic and excellent. Mercado's is excellent also...more TexMex.

txhunter90 06-11-2021 09:07 AM

Diner- The grove, very popular spot with a cool outside atmosphere. I recommend for a nice night out.

Dinner- Ricks on the square, best shaved ribeye sandwich I have ever had.

Lunch- Loggins, Johnny Manziels grandparents own. But, one of the best buffets around imo if you like home cooking. Arguably some of the best CFS I have had.

Or check out FD's grillhouse, one of our favorites for lunch or diner.

Just some popular spots.

I respectfully disagree. Forget the liberal BBQ you have to stand in line to get tgen sit outside to eat. Go 20 minutes east and eat at Country Tavern. Best BBQ in Texas.

Kiepersol is good for 'Tyler Fancy'.

Don Juan on erwin is excellent.
Mother-in-law says country tavern is excellent, i plan to go there the next visit.
Most everything on loop is just standard get what you expect food.

HogHunter34 06-11-2021 07:00 PM

Kiepersol is very good but be prepared to drop $100/person

Cantcatch5 06-11-2021 08:10 PM

Tyler is about as “open” as far as eating out at a restaurant as any town I have been to! I don’t think people here cook lol! You won’t find any Covid restrictions here now other than Dr’s offices.

Some great suggestions listed above. Inexpensive lunch I like Stanley’s, Don Juan’s, Lolas, and The Catch. Nicer dinners I like the Grove, Bernard Mediterranean, Ricks, Prime 102, Dakotas.

Great seafood a short drive away in Chandler. Wade’s Place is awesome and offer both inside and outside dining.

TheHammer 06-12-2021 01:58 PM

It’s all open.

If you can get in I would head to Jack Ryan’s steakhouse. My favorite restaurant steak. My wife and I try to go there ever so often. Great place.

We go to the one in Kilgore but I would expect this one to be the same.

Country Tavern rivals any BBQ that I’ve had in Texas. Great place. Maybe a TBH gtg is in order!

I just read on the interwebs that the Jack Ryan’s place in Tyler didn’t re-open after the shutdowns.

I forgot about Javis. That place has really good food and atmosphere and is reasonably priced. I agree about Mercados…it was great 20 years ago.

I’m with you I can name Atleast 10 Mexican restaurants in Tyler better than Mercardos.

Heck I would rather eat the Tacos at Fresh and grocery shop then go mess with Mercardos.

Loggins is an amazing home cooking buffet I love Mexican food day. U can get Enchilads, CFS and Catfish all on the same plate lol!!

Ricks IMO I usually better at lunch then dinner. Gigi usually cooks at lunch so it’s better I think.

Have not tried the new Prime place yet on the square.

Country Tavern is great Ribs!
