Darton & Stan R Were Right!!!!! Pic Heavy
It has been a lifelong dream of mine to own my own hunting land and today that dream became reality! I just closed on a secluded 80 acre parcel and am ecstatic. God is good!!!

Iíd been seriously looking for land since early 2017 and Darton located this place on New Yearís Eve. It turned out to be exactly what we were looking for. His threads documenting the acquisition and development of multiple whitetail hunting grounds over the years, along with his wisdom and encouragement were instrumental in this coming together. Darton, my family and I will be forever grateful, my friend. To Stan R who helped inspire Darton and many others, I extend my sincere appreciation.

I look forward to taking everyone along as we slowly work to maximize the potential of the property and local deer herd.

Congrats to you. To me there is nothing like owning your own place. We bought ours almost 14 years ago and have never regretted it. We retired to the place last year and have enjoyed every minute of it.

IowaHunter 03-30-2018 06:12 AM

Congrats - it looks very lush and green from this week’s rain.

Nice! I grew up and graduated from Quinton. There are truly some huge deer in that area.

LOL. I should have titled it ďPic & Vid Heavy!!!!Ē as I anticipate allot of filming going on with the kids pulling the trigger/release.

Pics will begin rolling into this long term post later today.

RR 314 03-30-2018 09:14 AM

And yes, Darton is a good guy.

Throwin Darts 03-30-2018 09:25 AM

Congrats. I bought my place last March and it has been constant work....but the kind of work you'll love doing. Theres no feeling like pulling in the gate of your own place.

Spent a good part of the morning visiting with the former owner (Roy) about the history of the place, where all the utility lines are, maintenance that is required, idiosyncrasies of the place, names and numbers, etc.

Roy and his wife have been here nearly 20 years and are in their 70ís now. Heíd had it up FSBO for nearly 3 years. The sale was a blessing for both of us.

Did a little scouting this afternoon with Gracie.

A few of the homeplace:

Our place is up on top of a ridge. Weíve got an easement that goes through a pasture to access it. Our place starts 3/4 way up the hill.

Darton 03-31-2018 08:13 PM

I am loving the development! Nothing but good times ahead!

Booner Sooner 03-31-2018 08:57 PM

Got back to the property today with the family to hang two more cameras and pour out some corn in front of them to get a sense of what we have in the area. Hoping for a varied age structure to the local herd.

Have a few good size oaks on the place. This is one of them.
Most of what is here is pin and post oaks, I believe. Will learn more as we go along.

Booner Sooner 03-31-2018 09:03 PM

This place has allot of rock on it. The former owner allowed a company to source rock from here for a while. Some are pretty small while others will take a dozer to move.

These are screaming fire pit.

All things in due time.

Arrowsmith 03-31-2018 09:14 PM

Looks Outstanding !!! I know it is a very good feeling and exciting time for you and your family.
