    Pond Weed/Grass Killer

We have some long vine type grass with wavy leaves on it that has taken over the banks of the pond. It looks similar to something you would see used for decoration in an aquarium.

Anyone found a good treatment to rid this stuff without harming the fish?

    Rodeo would probably work.

Ludwigia water primrose. An aquatic-rated glyphosate product should knock it down for a while.

My go-to is "Roundup Custom 50-50" with AquaKing surfactant. Takes up to a week to see wilting.

If you're worried about the fish, don't treat all at once. Spray 20-30% of your pond edge at a time and wait a few weeks between treatments. Too much rotting vegetation in the water can deplete oxygen.

You can use round-up but just don't spray a whole bunch at one time.

i have had good luck in my small pond with Sonar RTU

it is just pour into pond and will knock that stuff out in a couple applications. no need for boom sprayers, etc.

it is not a cheap solution, though

Sonar RTU (Ready To Use) is a formulation of Sonar made for the DIY pond owner. Sonar RTU is a ready-to-use formula that controls the most troublesome pondweeds including Duckweed, Watermeal, Curly Leaf Pondweed and Milfoil as well as a long list of others. No mixing required, apply directly from the bottle.

Nautique works great on most all submergent vegetation....

Check with your county extension agent.

This is from the site above Glyphosate (Rated: Excellent). Use Rodeo like listed above, that is the active ingredient. The surfactant in RoundUp will kill the fish. You can buy a non ironic surfactant for the Rodeo or simply use soap.
