2020 Official Astros - Off Season thread

Winter meetings going on...
Focus rumors are catchers and starting pitchers.

Can help but think ill be very disappointed if robbie isnt re-signed..
We arent getting a realmuto..

flyinstroke 12-09-2019 02:35 PM

I would love to see Chorinos back as well. Other than that lets get some more starting pitchers.

basskicker24 12-09-2019 04:08 PM

Love Chorinos and hope he stays. I was sad to see Jake go though. Def going to be an interesting off season with all the moves and potential drama.

texasdeerhunter 12-09-2019 04:19 PM

I can’t believe Wheeler got $118mm. Now Madbum wants $100mm plus. Strasburg signed for 7/$245mm, basically the same offer Cole was given from NY. Now that means Cole will get more than $245mm...crazy offseason so far. I’m not sure which pitchers are quality that the Stros will want to pay for. I’m not crazy about Chirrinos, although I enjoyed watching him play last year. But there isn’t much to choose from for catchers, so I guess you gotta bring him back

rtp 12-09-2019 09:02 PM

It's Chirinos guys. **** it you ****ers cant spell for ****.

Chew 12-09-2019 09:25 PM

I vote to keep Churrascos for our primary catcher.

systemnt 12-09-2019 09:37 PM

Ya'll stop ****in up Chiquititas name.
He was solid last year and JV loves him some chimichongas.

Rubi513 12-09-2019 10:22 PM

Hoping we can keep Cheerios as well...

redfishted 12-09-2019 10:30 PM

I’d like a catcher with a little better arm and higher batting average than cherryino, that said I like Robinson I think he is good for the team.

Me Too. Also want to see what LMJ looks like in Spring Training.

systemnt 12-10-2019 06:19 AM

Im concerned, without actually knowing anything about what luhnows plans or efforts are, that astros are putting a whole lotta eggs in the LMJ basket....

Tmag 12-10-2019 06:32 AM

Would love to keep our catchers, they have what we need. Hoping Crane will pay the man!;)b

I've read 'castros' name a few times.. ...and i dont like it.

systemnt 12-10-2019 04:04 PM

Rangers have met with chirinos....
*** luhnow..

Preacher Man 12-10-2019 06:03 PM

I'm getting just a feeling that whoever we get to fill in at catcher and the pitchers we need will be on the cheap. Unless they get Reddick traded.

If that happens, our team will still be good. But won't be what it was in 2019.

Maldy may still be a possibility. My gut tells me that he may be following Cole though.

systemnt 12-10-2019 06:55 PM

Breaking news. (But not news. )
Luhnow says..investigations not effecting what they are doing.
Have to make trades to get a good starting pitcher..
Priorities are pitching and a catcher ..'since they dont have one..' ..

Something mustve occurred for them to totally shading robbie.
Just doesnt make sense.

I’ve been promoting to deal Correa for the last season and a half. He’s a great athlete and will probably make someone a hell of a middle infielder if he can ever stay healthy enough to scratch a hundred forty games in a season...but he’s the second best shortstop on his own team at the moment and we have too much money tied up elsewhere to not dish him for some sort of return before he walks in free agency anyway....move Breggs over to short, ship Yuli back to 3rd, teach Alvarez how to receive throws at first & so long as he isn’t a liability defensively, it frees up room to still sign a mid range bat like Kyle Schwarber or someone I’m free agency....the Reddick contract is about as cool as taking a bath with your dad....need to find an out there....

...as far as catchers go, Chirinos is as good as gone. I’m ok with testing the waters with Garrett Stubbs for a year to see how he holds up as long as we can find someone with some minor credibility to split a little time with him....anything will beat the Hank Conger years...poor Conger hadn’t thrown out a base runner since the Clinton Administration

Yankees needing Cole like a Crackhead needing a hit. 9 years? If he wins 20 games a year for the next 9 years, that’s 1.8 Million per win. Good Job Yankees.

systemnt 12-11-2019 03:28 AM

Good for Cole.

Enjoy those $30 beers yankee fans.

zztex 12-11-2019 08:10 AM

What ya think? Correa and Reddick to Reds for Castillo. I like it

eastxhunter 12-11-2019 08:40 AM

LMAO

I appreciate everything he did the last 2 seasons but as a Yankee I can't help but hope he falls flat on his face.

Yup me too, he pretty much shunned the Stros after the WS loss and they were the team that helped him go from the pitcher he was with the pirates to being the most dominant one in the league. Way to show class, enjoy watching the World Series from the couch.

You aren't the only one. We won a record number of games with "bubble wrap" out for 2/3 of the season with his fractured rib and back problems. We don't need him. Get rid of him while you can get good money!

I like it but we'll need another deal for a 3B. No, thanks on Yuli moving over. Bregman will be fine at SS. He's not at Correa's level but also doesn't have his injury history. Rendon if they can afford the contract or Donaldson if they cannot to fill 3B. Leave Yuli at 1B and Yordan at DH and let's go send the Yanks home again in 2020.

Remdon would be a solid add. If they could do that and get Castillo, I think that would be some solid moves to keep them competitive next season.

I like it!!

Let's see what Yordan does this year for a while... I know he's a big-leaguer now, but his glove may be a liability... maybe Winter ball will help his fielding... hopefully he's playih' somewhere??

I would rather see Tucker in the field. He has great speed and a decent bat that I think could replace Reddick.

As for an extra infielder, does Straw have decent fielding and hitting skills? Never really saw much of him....

Can’t believe they paid Cole that kinda money. I don’t think he will dominate over the next few years every season arms get weaker as a pitcher. Those arms can only handle so many pitches. Hope he enjoys the rude *** people and the high taxes!

Angels spent their Cole money on Rendon.

Tom 12-11-2019 11:55 PM

The Astros will still be the team to beat and the smart money waits until trading time during the season to get what they ACTUALLY need at that time.....we are cool.;)b
