To go along with this you should post what your purpose is the the round, that will give better insight as far as which is better.

All are good calibers, but the 7mm-08 is a light weight in my opinion

The 8mm is hard to come by!

The 30.06 is a work horse and readily available.

I don't have any experience with the 7X57

I have shells for a 7x57mm and cant find a single person to sell to or make a trade. Like said above, your plans for the gun will help determine which caliber would be best suited for your needs. With no other information, assuming you're just hunting Texas I would go with the 7mm-08

Let's say most game in North America and go to rifle for just about anything out of these 4 caliber. But tbh I should have used 7x57mm or 7mm-08 because they are very very similar

If that's the case I would go 30.06. Extra knock down power would good for elk and such.

Reloads of factory ammo only, it makes a big difference.

Personal preference is 308. They r all good rounds. 8mm good for bout 100 to 150 yds. My uncle had one that he had sporterized.love to shoot that gun. knocked down some deer and hogs with it. Can get shells at academy for it. 30-06 great round. Can kill most anything with it.

Personally I like 30.06 over 308 but it's probably just be it's a classic old caliber and I like the history over not really bc one has an advantage over the other bc Idk if there is a huge difference
