    Time/Date Stamp

I have a Sony DCR-TRV340 camcorder and I use Digital8 tapes in it. The camcorder gives a time/date stamp on the recorded segment that I can view when I play back the video THROUGH the camera even if I have it hooked up to my tv. This info is important to me because it tells me when I saw deer, what the arrow did when I shot--whether I hit high, low, foward, back, or if I hit at all--plus I can recall the exact action without having to rely on my memory--I'm at that age where memory is not too accurate. I use Studio 8 to download, edit and burn to cd/dvd my tapes. The problem is this: I do not see the time/date info after I download the recording to my computer! As tapes don't last forever, I really would like to save all my recordings to dvd but still be able to see the time and date on the disc. Is there a way I can do this? And how? I hope you folks can help me.

Is there a sub menu in Camera Set Up for DV INFO? If there is try working with that as it might make a permanent 'burn in' of the info into the tape.
Mine does but I use a Canon XL2........just try working with your camera/tape menus & sub menus.

I checked, Pat and it doesn't have a submenu for dv info. In the "capture format" it has the ability to capture in dv or mpeg. Does that make a difference?

No. DV or Mpeg is the compression format. Then try going into your vcr menu and see what's there. If it's not there then I'd say it won't do it without buying an aftermarket burner which couldn't be used in the field!

Sorry I hadn't got back to you sooner, Pat. In your last post you mentioned an aftermarket burner---how does it work and which one do you recommend?
