    A little Cal Ripken baseball

Denver City is hosting a tournament here this week and I figured I would try out the new lens. I am learning that you get what you pay for. The equivalent Tamron didn't even come close to my new 80-200 2.8 Nikon. Resizing them doesn't do them justice at all.

    Not a homer, but close.

That is in the works. Have a little competition in the area though. Gonna have to get a business plan together.

Hey Jason. Did you shoot these through the fence or was the gate open enough to shoot through? You have some nice shots with that lens and Tamron has nice quality but you're right it's not Nikon quality. If you have a Nikkor 80-200mm 2.8 I would use that for sports, it's a fast lens. If you needed more reach you could even add a 1.4x TC which would make the 2.8 an f/4 and it would be great still.

I'm shooting the AAYBA World Series here in Flower Mound this week and again in 2 weeks and I am using a Sigma 300mm 2.8 with a 1.4 TC so I am getting it out to a 420mm with that on.

One last thing, most of these big tournaments already have a company shooting the tournament if that's what you mean by competition. The tourney's I shoot don't allow parents on the field or even in the dugout. If you want to shoot that tourney you should look for the tournament director and ask him if they already have someone shooting it. Have a business plan in place when you do because they'll want to know how you plan to cover it. Good luck and thanx for sharing.

These were shot with the Nikon 80-200 2.8. They look way better on my pc than on here or flickr. I sized them down on flickr as well. I was on the field just behind 1st base.
