    Planting Time

It's cotton planting season here in Childress and I was out this evening with my buddy Cade to shoot a few images of him at work.

Cotton farming is tough, demanding work both physically and financially and I commend Cade for his efforts. You may remember http://discussions.texasbowhunter.co...highlight=cade

Oh wow I don't guess I realized there was that much of a lapse in planting times across the state. We have 1300 acres at the prison and already have already past bloom stage.

        Great pictures Russell

Post bloom already? Wow! We used to get the first blooms in mid-July in the Panhandle, Jason. Pretty big difference.

When is it? Strike that, just looked it up. Didn't realize it was today. Won't make it I am still in Arlington and not heading that way until later today. We have a family reunion tomorrow down there.

We have pixed out cotton twice to slow it down. I'll try and get some pics of the cotton this next week. We are looking at a very good crop down there this year as long as a storm doesn't blow in.

What are the plants that are coming up already? Soybeans?

It's cotton. It's in a field that he'd already planted.

                        Thanks!

Those bring back both goo and bad memories for me. I miss time at the farm w/ my dad and grandparents. I don't miss chopping cotton in the summer heat.
