    Moore Plantation Public contract

For those that hunt Moore Plantation Public, word is that TTG aka Crown Pine will not renew the contract with the state. Sucks, I know! Same with Bannister and all of Newton County Archery Public…gone as of August 31

So that means they are going to cut & strip it like everything else around these areas? In which I know their land their choice.

I would imagine the portion that's National Forest will remain open just like the NF around it. If they're doing away with the WMA, that means the Feds will manage it for wildlife instead of TPWD.

A portion of Moore is still under state control, from what I understand.

I emailed the US Forest Service and they said no changes are happening to the WMA.

And they are right. He gave you a political answer. The WMA is Fed property. The other is timber company.

Not necessarily a bad thing, TPWD had a track record of gross mismanagement recently.

All you had to say was Crown Pine. Those two words are all you need to hear to know it is not a good thing.

I had some crazy good hunts in the Moore over the years. Hate to hear they changing control of any portion of it.

Is all of Bannister owned by Crown or only a portion? This is going to suck this year with Crown raising prices on leases and a lot of East Texas hunters getting off their leases and claiming they'll just hunt public.

If you compare a Bannister National Forest Map to the Bannister WMA map, you can tell how much of the WMA is private land.

I am very close to that. I am considering buying a nice travel trailer and travel around to various public hunting areas to hunt. By the time I pay for my lease now and pay camp fees I am paying over $3,000.00 a year plus feeding year round. Way too much for the area of E Tx I hunt.
