    Ford Superduty upfitter switches

Anyone ever wire these things up?

I YouTube it… but it’s confusing … can I wire them to the 4 wires under the hood in the corner… or under the dash….
OR do you have to wire both sides…..

    Trying to figure it out….

Also the wires under the hood in drivers side corner…. Can you reach them reasonably …. Not sure why they couldn’t have brought them out another foot or so…
I think I have the colors down to the 4 wires

Year will matter for these answers. YouTube is your friend. I’ve been watching to hook up my onboard compressor

Wire under hood. I’m the worse electrician in the world and they are super simple. Road feeders are awesome. Lol

On my 2017, I connected to the wires under the hood. Only issue was getting BACK through the firewall...

I THINK… but not sure … I think that why there are wires on both sides… so you don’t have to go through the firewall….

          But I could be wrong….

You would think it would be some kind of universal plug that would just be plug and play…

2017+ should have wires under the hood. 2016 and down they’re tucked up under the dash, you gotta look it up to find the colors you need, then contort yourself into position to cut them free and fish through the firewall

It’s a 2016 and I’m sure the wires are situated on both sides of the firewall….
Hence why you can wire on each side… depending on where your accessory is

I hooked up my compressor for my airbags to upfitter switch #1. Been a while since I did it but it was pretty easy.
The box under the hood is easy to access, just pull the top cap off. Those connections run directly to the switches so you have to have the schematic to know which lead wires coming out of that box go to which switch but they are all colored and labeled. Hook the correct wires for which switch you are going to use to whatever you are wanting to run from the switch and you are good to go.
The different switches have different fuses amperages so you need to know if what you are wanting to power will work on which switches depending on the fuse amperage.

I use aux 1 for my lights in my grill and aux 2 for the lights on my bumper. If I had a winch I’d put it on aux 3

Depending on the year they are located in different locations. My 18 the wires were on the drivers left hand side of the engine. My 22 they’re on the passenger. Get a color diagram and it will tell you what wires go to what switch. Run positive off the upfitter wire under the hood for the designated switch and ground em to the battery negative or a good ground. It’s pretty easy once you do one of em

I could have sworn my owners manual listed different amp ratings for the different switches.
Something to consider depending on the load.

I used mine to wire in a resistor for high idle in my 2016 on switch 4. All it took was 1 splice up in the driver’s side footwell with the resistor between two wires.

My 20 model is wired under the hood. Running lights and light bar on 1 and 2. I was told the winch pulls too much it use the switches so it's wired direct.

I use a relay connected to one of the up fitter switches to wire my compressor.
