    Buc-ee's Corn

On Friday I purchased 6 bags of corn (at $12.49) from Buc-ee's in Fort Worth. When I got to the deer lease 3 of the bags had mildewed corn in them. On Sunday, I went back to the Fort Worth store to get a refund. Spoke to the manager and was told unless I had the bags of corn with me she wouldn't give me a refund.
Needless to say I was a little P.O.'ed!!
She then told me if I wanted to get a return to contact Corporate! I went to there website and filled out a complaint. I'm waiting to hear back regarding a refund.

Anyone else had a similar problem with Buc-ee's corn?

Probably not what you want to hear, but I can’t imagine getting a refund, especially on a perishable item, without returning the product and proof of purchase date.

I have handled a few bags that were molded there but you can usually feel or see it through the packaging. I'll move to another pallet or part of the stack.

It sucks on the refund, but I can certainly understand them requiring the moldy bags of corn for a refund.....somebody would take advantage of that if they didn't. I've had Palmers ask me to send a picture of the moldy corn and they have credited my account but that's about the only place I have not had to return evidence in the past.

I was on a road trip with the family this last week. We were in Georgia and Bucees on the way out. they had deer corn for 11.99 a 50lb Deer Master Apple Scented. I thought well we are all in the same boat.

Why would you expect a refund if you didn’t bring it back?

I'm suspect of any corn that sits outside on a pallet, even at the much worshipped beaver store. Haven't had mold yet but did get some that was like pouring out a vacuum cleaner with how much dust it had.

I took pictures of each bag and didn't think they would want me to bring back each bag to leave moldy corn bags at the store.
Won't happen again. Won't be buying any corn from Buc-ee's any more.
I'll trust the local feed store from now on.

Ok. You didn’t mention taking pics initially. That’s better than nothing. Sucks they wouldn’t just take care of you.

Man, that stinks. I had the exact same thing happen with a completely different result. I bought 8 bags from the Ft.Worth store on 3/13 (south side of the building). Drove 2.5 hrs to my lease in Oklahoma to fill feeders. 1st bag was ok. Second bag was moldy so I poured it on the ground. 3rd and 4th bag were ok, but the 5th, 6th, and 7th bag were all three bad. I poured them all out on the ground but kept the empty bags as well as the 8th bag (unopened) and brought them back home. I stopped by there on Saturday afternoon (3/18) and spoke with a female manager. She actually told me she had to check with her supervisor (a taller gentleman) and after a quick discussion came back and told me to grab 8 more bags. I only picked up the 5 that were actually bad but I did ask what to do in the future if that happens again. She told me to just take pictures and they would make it right. During my initial conversation I explained to her that I poured the corn out but that I kept the bags for her to smell as well as the 8th unopened bag, (she wanted no part of that) lol. No way am I hauling back moldy corn opened in the back of my truck to spill everywhere. She did ask what color the bags were and when I told her brown, she said that some of those bags came in bad and that they have since changed vendors because of it. The replacement bags that I received were green so I'm assuming she was correct. All in all they made it right with me without having to jump through hoops so they will retain my business.

                      PROBLEM SOLVED!!

I went back to Buc-ee's / FTW this morning and spoke to the same store manager I spoke to on Sunday. I asked if I could talk to the General Manager, he was very nice and told me they had a lot of complaints about the corn from their previous vendor and had changed vendors. I showed him the pictures of the bags of mildewed corn and he told me to go p/u 3 new bags. The new bags were from a different vendor!!

I've learned a valuable lesson, going forward if I get mildewed corn, just tape up the bag and return it to the store where it was purchased!
