    ILF Riser options

So I'm wanting a takedown bow I can travel with, put under the backseat of my truck or otherwise just store easily to have it and an arrow tube with me at just about any time during the season.

I had originally started off my trad bow adventure with a Hoyt Satori, but sold it off to get another bow. Last year I ordered a Bear Takedown but that was a disaster, so I sent the bow back.

Now, I'm looking for something I can take down, swap limbs to adjust draw weights and whatnot, and won't cost a fortune. I'm not gonna be interested in a custom made takedown bow like a Primal Tech or Black Widow, just a quality production bow I can travel around with.

I'm not opposed to going back to a Satori, even though they are a soulless hunk of metal, but wanted to see if anyone knows about an alternate that may be suitable. I do know Trad Tech makes a ILF riser that seems to be ok, but any other options out there that would make sense?

Want a 15-17" Riser BTW to pair with short limbs for a 56-58" bow.

Check out the following at Lancaster Archery:
    Galaxy Sear
    EXE Scream

I am in Boerne and have a couple Sear risers if you wanted to look at one before ordering. I might even be willing to part with one.

There are some budget wood options that can be found, but I dont have any experience with them.

Are they metal risers? Thr ot thing I didn’t like about the satori was how heavy it was

The ones I listed are metal.

I’ve heard good things about the riser in the link below. You can order from this UK website with confidence.

The Buck Trail Nobleton Phenolic wood riser is equipped with a limb alignment system and accepts International Limb Fitting limbs (ILF). Available in 17in and 1

I’m also curious about your experience with the Bear take down.

So when i started this whole foray into trad archery, like most people I bought some Fred Bear books. The story of Bear Archery is fascinating and I wanted to "stay true to the brand" by buying Bear products. The first Bear bow, the Grizzly, was a good bow in terms of craftsmanship. My 2nd Bear bow, which I traded straight up for the Satori, was a 2019 model 59' Reproduction of the Kodiak. Absolutely beautiful bow and craftsmanship is great. At the time I could not shoot the Kodiak very well at all, so I shelved it and bought a Super Kodiak. The craftmanship is fair, I used to dabble in wood working and honestly I don't think i would have let this bow leave the shop. Around the grip you can tell the sand and subsequent stain job is a tad shoddy. For a $600 bow it could have been done better, BUT, I shoot the bow fairly decent so there is that.

Wanted at takedown so I bought the Flagship Bear Recurve, the Takedown Kodiak. Got the bow from 3Rivers and when it arrived i noticed the limbs didn't match the riser in color. Strung it up and after the first shot the limbs made an audible "POP" at the draw. Would take the limbs apart and reassemble and it was good for 1 shot before the pop came back. Total AMO was 56", it handled and shot fantastic, but I never was able to get the creak out, tried wax, felt padding, etc. to no avail so I sent the bow back.

sad to say, all the negative reviews online about Bear quality control appear to have merit, as I've got 2 out of 4 bows with issues, one cosmetic the other performance related.

I have a Tradtech Trident 21” wood ilf riser with uukha limbs that is a joy to shoot. The medium wrist grip is nice and it’s not bad looking. I prefer it over my satori because it kind of has a soul lol.
