    So. Much. Damage.

I'm in the Leander/Liberty hill area and pretty much every tree on my property suffered some kind of damage. Many 6-8" caliper live oaks snapped in half and whole trees up to 18" in diameter snapped like a twig. I have a few junipers that were 18-24" and they are broken clean near the base and a few pulled out of the ground root ball and all. I lost two whole white oaks that were 24" plus in diameter at the base when the main cracked halfway up. It really breaks my heart to see such mature trees wasted.

This is easily 2-3 times more damage than the last ice storm especially since a lot of the dead wood was already removed last time.

Austin and surrounding areas were hammered
People going to be without electricity for a while in those areas!

Just coming in for a break running the chainsaw all morning. I’m getting old-thinking about getting a little Kobalt to finish with. :-). This 455 is wearing me out.

I heard it could be due to the drought last summer.

I'm in the same boat. Lots of tree damage here and in the area. My chainsaw will be busy for a while.

We’ve been doing the same thing. Looks like a tornado came through here. We didn’t lose any trees, but a lot of limbs are down. Very large limbs.

Buddy in Austin has mentioned it looks like a war zone at least as to the trees. I have seen some pics and it is gut wrenching to see so many trees damaged. Going to take decades to recover the canopy around the area.

I started cutting yesterday. As others have said, looks like a war zone. One good thing, we got power back on !!

We had massive damage to a 300 + yo Love oak, and my roof. On a separate note continuing the w t f theme this weekend 2 of us broke out the chain saws and were helping the neighbors clean up and 1/2 my neighbors (males-cause they are not men) stood around with the carpet muncher who’s yard I was cleaning and never lifted a finger to help cut or load the trailer.

We didn’t lose any per se, but some are so beat to hell I am taking them down. Oooooof.

Absolutely hammered down in S Austin.. One of my oaks has zero canopy remaining. Big hackberry down across the fence, my 40’ crepe myrtle lost 60-70% of its canopy. I’m out of space to stack brush, already well outside the city ‘requirements’ of 5’x4’x15’ on my brush stack. And I’m not done cutting what’s on the ground, let alone still hanging in the trees.
