    Hog contraceptive

I think something was posted a while back on this topic. My concerns is they can’t guarantee that it will not effect other wildlife.

To control the feral hog problem, a contraceptive bait was created and placed on the market in June of 2021. And after a year and a half, the creators of the bait say ranchers are seeing the benefits.

    I'll stick with lead poisoning.

The news clip said that it affects hogs "more than" other animals. Maybe it works on raccoons too!

It would work better at the border.

I know a lot of you guys are ok with giving hogs poison or other chemical means to stop the population. I'm against doing that because some of us eat them. They should make it easier to donate hogs and other wild meat to people in need instead. Last time I tried to donate meat it was gonna cost me 150 bucks because I had to pay for processing. There's plenty of people who would butcher themselves if they were given the animal. Each county should have a donation list where people can sign up for meat.

You can set something up yourself locally. If you have hogs to give away find folks that will take them.

Show me some of those folks that will take a dead hog and butcher it for themselves. Much easier to take those government cards that you and I pay for and got to Walmart.

I give away 15 or 20 a year.. I don't have a problem quartering them and bringing them to people.. our church has a sign up list from our community out reach. I don't think I have ever had someone say no that really needed the meat..

It's just like USFW thinking of using contraceptives on coyotes. They failed to realize the hogs aren't f* us, they are destroying our pastures, water quality, and eating everything they can.

This has been working for me and it doesn't hurt other wildlife unless I want it to.

It's a step in the right direction but still too much $$ for it to be effective on a large scale.

Not around here we catch a lot of hogs and cannot give the things away. We leave most of them laying in the woods.

Very few people in Mills county even want a gutted doe anymore. All have food stamps now.
