All Seasons Timed Protein User ?

I have a 600lb timed all seasons stand and fill protein feeder that I plan to setup on my lease in Oklahoma.

Trying to get an idea on how long I can get it to last. How long do you spin yours for to get a decent amount in the troughs and how long does it last?

In my head 10 lbs a day would be pretty fair and that’s 60 day supply.

I have that exact feeder in my wife’s area.

I run it I think 5 seconds morning and evening, battery was down to 2 bars two weekends ago. Her set up is fairly heavily wooded and the panel doesn’t get much sun this time of year due to earth tilt.

That said, it been out over 3 months and still running. Regarding how much feed you’ll run through, simply it depends on how hard it gets hit.

If animals take to it and clear the troughs after every drop, you’ll probably be good for 12 weeks with how ours is set up before it needs a refill. If animals are “meh” towards it, feed will last longer. That feeder doesn’t force feed out, it just drops into the troughs.

If there’s feed in the trough channels, the motor will still go off but it won’t force the remaining feed out of the troughs are still at a basically full level.

      That’s been our experience anyway.

You don't want to feed to much to soon. The feed will back up and burn a motor up. Feed small amount until they get use to feeder and feed.

I would definitely mix at least 50/50 corn-protein on the first load at about 2 seconds once or twice a day. Need to make sure they get on it before it backs up. Think it’ll hold about 75 pounds after the throws before it’ll back up if not ate from.

Also before you set it up I’d turn the entire feeder upside down and access the motor spinner. I would move the spinner up the shaft to decrease the spinner gap to the feed so it doesn’t dump as much feed because the gap is too big. I’d leave it where just the tip of the motor shaft is barely sticking out of the spinner. Make sure the spinner set screw is tightened down real good so the spinner doesn’t drop back down later on.

I get about 6 weeks running a total of 8 seconds on one of mine and 10 on the other daily. I’d start it lower to begin with and adjust accordingly. If you have a cell cam I’d definitely put it on the protein feeder so you can monitor.

Also I think about 3 seconds twice a day should get you to about 75 pounds a week give or take.

I feed 2 seconds twice daily and there’s leftover feed in the trough everyday. I started with a mix until they started on it consistently and now am straight protein. A full bin has lasted several months at 2 seconds

If I feed 3 secs twice a day I get about 1.5 - 1.75 months on mine. I was shocked but it fills the trays up nicely. You don't want to feed too much unless your deer are cleaning it up because your lower hopper past the spinner holds 75ish lbs plus whatever the trays hold. You have to watch that when they get off feed like on a big green-up or a big acorn fall. If it backs up all the way up and fills the bottom hopper, you can bind the spinner . The good news is you can massage it through the holes, get it all out to the trays, scrape it into a 5 gallon bucket and dump it back into the top hopper. It doesn't go bad. Just keep an eye on on the normal "off the feed times" and back the spin back to 1 or 2 seconds...

Here's a videoof one of mine I made of mine when I first set it out. We mixed a bag of corn and a bag of protein in a 5 gallon bucket (x2) and poured it in to get them started them. Did not mix it with a paddle or anything, just had two of us pouring from each bag into the bucket. On the second one we just stood on the tailgate and poured a bag of corn and a bag of protein in slowly at the same time making sure it mixed well. You can see the corn in the trays. I wish I would have filmed the first feeding to give a better idea of how much it drops. What you see here is a 2 sec feeding already in the trays and a second 2 sec feeding going off for me videoing. If I can remember I'll do one next time my trays go empty. This is season 4 of me using them..

I forgot I had this video of us mixing medicated protein with regular from the tailgate. You get the picture here except substitute the medicated protein with corn of course. Goes quickly. [emoji41]

Smart and Bonethug are spot on. Also it holds at most 11 bags of protein.

Agree with this. It holds 600 lbs of corn or 550 lbs/ 11 bags of protein …

One thing I learned about these is that every second after the 3rd seems to dump substantially more than the 1st 3. I throw 3 and 2 at most as an attractant. Get about 2 months max out of it.
