    Pros/Cons of a pontoon boat?

Me and the Mrs have been talking about the possibility of getting a pontoon boat.
I have only had 17' aluminum boats for fishing/hunting. I'll still be keeping that boat.
Wanting something to take the family out on the lake for fun in the summer (next year and past).
Can you pull a skier or a tube with one?
    What features to look for?
    Any brands to look at/avoid?

If you have one or had one what do you like/dislike about it.

Not sure about a skier but a tube for sure. The only negative on the one my mom had was when windy it was hard to load. It was a sweet water brand.

Grandparents have one, hard to load with one person, hard to load in the wind, absolute nightmare if you have engine trouble and no one close by to give you a tow lol.

Very comfortable, lots of room for family time and relaxing, also super nice for crappie fishing

I rented a fishing pontoon in Arkansas a month ago. It was awesome for fishing and for putting around but for pulling a tube it was no good because it was a 90 hp. If you want to pull kids around on ski’s or tubes then get one with 115
Or larger. I really enjoyed the boat but just not powerful for kids activities

Never thought I would own a pontoon but it’s pretty sweet and my girls love it.

A buddy of mine had one when his kiddos were little. His only complaint was when he took it out when it was windy. Besides putting in and picking up, he said it was not much fun towing either.

Now with that said he and his family loved the boat. A lot of fishing trips and tubing.

We go catfishing with a guide in a pontoon boat. For an old fart like me it’s super comfortable and easy to get around in. A big plus if you have ladies is the popup “bathroom” he has, ‘cause you know they gotta whiz every half hour.

We got one a couple yrs ago. It’s a 20’ with a 50hp four stroke. While I won’t be getting anywhere in a hurry It’s been great for us. Lots of room to fish or hang out. My boys were smaller then and could pull a tube around the lake fast enough to keep them happy. I have the guide-ons on my trailer and have never had a problem loading it. It does catch the wind pretty good though.

Also take a look at a Hurricane. Deck of a pontoon on a fiberglass hull.

                            Pro- party barge
Con - slow, but you can drink beer going slow, so I guess both pros.
                            Get a Toon.

Come up to Dallas and I will let you borrow mine for the day-I keep it in a slip so no worries about loading/unloading

I do wish I have a tri-toon and bigger motor but still love mine

We love ours and it’s great for fishing
