Finally drew a tag for this hunt. Does anyone know if you can use a guide on this hunt? Any tips or pointers from locals or someone that has hunted there before besides hang your bait high? Will we be ok in a 21ft Kenner for our boat or do we need a small flat bottom? Thanks for any replies.

I've drawn a few TPWD hunts, and only people included on your application can come. So unless you included a guide on your app, I'd bet you're on your own. I saw a fellow who paid a guide to come to Laguna Atascosa get very disappointed when he learned the guide wasn't allowed on the reserve!
A quick call to the area hosting the hunt has always answered all of my questions. -
No guide. That boat is way to big. There's not a real boat ramp there, just about a foot drop off into the water. I wouldn't hang them too high, we hung less than 2ft and came home empty handed.Originally posted by SEA PRO 210 View PostComment

I called the WMA because I have a larger boat as well. They recommended a small boat that you can hand launch, but said there is a ramp on the river that should give larger boats access but it will be limited in comparison.Comment

Looks like we’re in business. Lined up a small Jon boat with a mud motor, got the gator line’s in and now just need to book a place to stay.Comment
